The Veil

Why?
Why is this country and its system so good?
So good at hiding what it’s trying to hide.
The veil and the cover that falls down over our eyes
To say that the people trying to enter are self-centered
Because they’re ruining our powerful folks’ center of self-center
The ones that say they’re so different and that lie is so different
Because the difference is the differences that lie between us
Are normally ones that can only be seen cuz
We’re all God’s children created in His image
But the image we’re given says that they can’t be given the same chance we have
Because it’s a chance we don’t have to ruin
This perfect world that’s so conveniently covered by the veil.
We all need love and a chance to pursue
To pursue the pursuit of peace, love and happiness
But maybe you’re not happy yet because you’re being blinded
And to see what they want us to see isn’t real vision
Because the vision we’re given says no, we can’t just give them what we have.
They ain’t our equal because that doesn’t equal more for us
But more of us is required
Because to whom much is given, much is required
And I’d be a liar to say we don’t have much.
So why do we sit back while these folks sit back and tell them to get back?
Why?
