I am five

by Lillian Cooper, Kansas Disciples Seminar, March 13-14, 2008

I am five
I'm all alone
With no promise to survive
My momma is gone.

We've been here all my life
This is our home
Yet they took her
From the only place we've ever known.

The strangers, they came.
It was a terrible mess
And they all looked the same
With similar dress

They say I'll be fine
I'll start a new life
But all I want is what's mine
I need my mother.
