Why is there so much war? Why do we steer away from God so much? He did not want it to be this way. Why do we fight with each other? We are brothers and sisters, children of Christ. Why do we kill each other? We can find a way to live in peace through God. Why do we treat each other so bad? We are all the same no matter the things we do, the way we look, what we believe, or where we are from. God loves us all. Why do we judge people by their appearance? We are all human beings. Why do we treat each other like property? We all deserve equality. Why do we abuse and bully each other? We all have feelings. Why do we segregate each other? God wants us to live together in his world.

I’ve been in places. I’ve seen things. I’ve witnessed poverty. I’ve witnessed wealth. I’ve witnessed war. I’ve witnessed peace. I’ve witnessed what it is like on the other side of the world. We are very lucky, very lucky indeed. I’ve been in places that have not changed for many years. We do not appreciate what we have. However, we just destroy it.

This morning I woke up and started to think about my life. While I was eating breakfast, I saw my father shouting at my mom, because breakfast was not what he was expecting. Then I went to school, and on my way I saw a father taking his son to school, taking his hand, and being careful when they crossed the street. Then at lunch time, my mom and I were eating and my father was not there, and my mom told me not to worry about it. Then like every night I saw through my window my father walking on the sidewalk with a beer in his hand all drunk like every time he goes to play poker with his friends. He entered the house and he started to fight with my mom. He started to punch her, and I was trying to not hear my mom screaming and crying telling my father, please stop! After a couple of minutes the screaming voice of my mom stopped. I heard my dad close the door very rapidly and I heard his car wheels. He was gone. I went down and my mom was bleeding. She was unconscious. At that time all I could do was call 911 and pray for hope.
The ambulance arrived and I saw how they closed the door while my mom as losing a lot of blood. First I got very mad I didn’t understand why God gave me a father that didn’t love me. I started to scream asking and complaining why God was that unfair.
My mom was delicate. I was worried and tired of that kind of life. I wanted some kind of hope. I just wanted to find a father like others that loved his sons, even when they get detention or do bad things. Then someone came into my life and talked to me about my heavenly father who now is the best example of hope and happiness.

God is the most powerful in this world and everywhere.
Even though there were ignorants who thought they were.
Violence is something we have to stop even though its been from a long time.
There is life after death
And if you dont behave
Well you are going to hell.
Life is a challenge I want to take because not everybody has a chance.
I want to help others because I don’t know when everything will be over.
Take my life OH God because you are the only who has been with me throughout my life.

Tears Make Me Remember
I dont remember if
It was yesterday when I saw you
You were about to go to work
You told me youll be back for dinner.
I dont remember if it was yesterday
When I saw you, you were arguing
With my mom about how to pay
My school.
I dont remember if it was
Yesterday when I saw you.
You were driving, holding her hand.
I was sitting in the back.
I dont remember if it was yesterday
When I saw you, I just remember the bullets hitting the truck and me hiding in the back seat.
I dont remember, I really dont remember,
The tears make me remember.
I dont remember what time it was,
Or why does it happen.
I dont remember if it was
Yesterday when I say you,
I dont know if I dont remember
Or I dont want to remember.

Violence
I have seen how women, mothers, sisters, friends, girlfriends scream for someone that is not here anymore
So the cartel, a gang or just for pleasure kill HIM.
I have seen all kinds of violence how the number of dead people increase in my city and how each family lose a member, a love one.
I have seen how people try to cross the border in a search for a dream, a dream that will give his family a better life but in the way they face obstacles, and some ones do not even arrive to his American dream.
People is dying out there for drugs or even worse for a paper saying that he is NOT an American Citizen. People of all the races, colors and citizenship stay in the middle of his dream.
Violence is not affecting the person who receive it, but also the people around him, his love ones…
I have seen all this violence, death people in the way to school.
Decapitated people in the news
Friends of mine are not here anymore,
Others still fight in the hospital
Without NO HOPE from the doctors to survive.
I’m afraid to stop feeling and become a cold person and that this make me feel like this is NORMAL when is NOT.
I want to change the world but I cannot do it by my own.

I woke up another day, another journey, another step.
I have everything I always want
One beautiful mom, a strong dad,
A good way of life.
It was a good morning like most of the mornings in my life, but this time something wasn’t right.
I went to the kitchen and I turn on the tv, and the news guy said yesterday was a disaster a blood day for our city (cd. Juarez) something came into my mind,
I thank God for my mom and dad.
As usual my mom is always in the kitchen making breakfast for me, but now she wasn’t there.
And another time I thought something wasn’t right. I hear the phone, I hear a scream something wasn’t right.
My dad was killed.
With tears in her eyes my mom told me your father is dead.
I was shocked. I could not talk.
Why me, why my family I’ve never done bad.
Why my dad?

I’m in a world of violence, and sometimes don’t know how to fix it. It has gotten so out of hand. Racism and discrimination everywhere, I just hate it. I want it all to stop. I can’t do it by myself, I need some help. Will you help me? We can end racial profiling and end the incarcerations of immigrants, make life better and safer for all.

We are in an age of Paranoia
Where anyone walking down the street is someone to fear.
Where anyone sitting beside you in the bus is someone to hate.
Where anyone driving by is someone to….
We are in an age where violence has been so “popularized” that killing someone is no big deal.
Video games have blood spurting everywhere and kids are no longer afraid or horrified that a life has been taken.
On the news we hear about X amount of deaths and we no longer care or feel anything about that.
We are in an age that sees blood, death, rape, torture and basic human dignities taken away.
We see it and we don’t do anything.
We don’t do anything because we are afraid.
Afraid of what? You might say.
We are afraid of being turned on by our family or friends. Afraid of being discredited, afraid of being told to Shut up! Because we are young and have no experience with that.
But we do have experience.
I have seen friends beaten both mentally & physically,
I know people who have been raped or sexually assaulted.
I have been faced with thoughtless words that because I am a woman I have nothing to say.
That is the least of it I have never faced anything like the group from Lydia Patterson has.
I believe adults need to stop talking and listen!
We have something to say & need to say.
If we want the world to heal then we need to stop the infection.

Violence is really bad. It is not just physical violence that hurts, but also emotional violence. People go through violence every day, but we do not usually hear about it. Our government is trying to “protect us”. I think if they really wanted to protect us, then they should tell us what is going on in violent places so we can do something about it. For example, I never knew how bad the journey across the border really was until I met the LPI girls. I blame it on the gov. When the government doesn’t tell us the truth it is like they are hiding something because they are doing something wrong. What I have learned is that we have to raise awareness about what is truly happening because if we wait for the government to tell us then we will be waiting for a long time, maybe even forever.

Are you listening now? Do we have your attention?
The blood of nations is being spilled at your feet,
But all you see is the danger to your expensive Italian shoes.
No more blindness. Lift the veil.
Take out the earplugs, lords and ladies,
Because we will no longer be silent.
We, your children, the products of many great nations,
We’ve seen the oppression, the injustice,
The constant daily violence, and we’ve heard
Your response. The silence.
We refuse to be pushed aside because of our youth.
We refuse to step back and let the adults handle it.
We refuse to remain silent.
We demand the right to be heard, to make a change.
There are babies without mothers, families going hungry
Innocent people being shot down simply for walking down the wrong sidewalk
Those institutions set up to help, help only themselves.
Those in positions of power do nothing, because they’re
Comfortable inside their solid-gold blinders.
We can change this. We must change this.
We are youth and we know injustice when we see it.
We know violence.
Are you listening now?
Because we won’t be silent anymore.
